Ingredients: Sulfadiazine sodium and trimethoprim

Pharmacological action

This product belong to the broad spectrum antimicrobial,it effective against most gram-positive bacterium and some gram-negative bacterium,also have effect on the coccidium, toxoplasm.Sulfadiazine act on dihydrofolate synthetase, interfere the first step of folate biosynthesis.Trimethoprim belong to the antisepsis synergist,works on the second step of folate biosynthesis,selective inhibition the dihydrofolate reductase.So,the two together can produce synergistic effect, blocks metabolism of folic acid in bacteria by two different mechanisms, enhance anti-bacterial performance.The effect of sulfonamides can be the antagonism of aminobenzoic acid and its ramification(procaine, tetracaine). Besides that,fester and its histolysis also can provide the necessary material for the growth of bacteria,antagonism with the sulfonamides.

Drug interactions

1.Do not compatibility application with tetracycline, kanamycin, lincomycin.

2. Procaine, tetracaine and yeast can reduce effect of this product,so don’t combination use.

3. Combination use with thiazides or furosemidum and other diuretic can reduce the effect of this product, renal toxicity exacerbation.

4. Combination use with anticoagulant,trimethoprim and sulfonamides can prolong the coagulation time.

5. Sulfadiazine can exchange the other high protein conjugation rate medicines,such as methotrexate, butazodine, thiazide diuretics, salicylate, probenecid, diphenylhydantoin, Although the clinical significance of interaction is not entirely clear, but must be tested the replacement strengthen drugs.

6. Antiacid combination use with sulfonamides can reduce its bioavailability.

Indications:

Used to treat the general infection of livestock which caused by sensitive bacteria,such as respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, mammitis, endometritis, peritonitis;also has effect on the swine toxoplasmosis.

Usage and Dosage:

Intramuscular injection:For one time,Per KG weight,livestock 0.33-0.33ml.Once or twice per day, continuous use 2-3 days.

Adverse drug reaction:

Acute reaction such as anaphylaxis, chronic reaction is granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, liver damage, renal damage and central neurotoxicity. Deposit in the urine easily,long term use or high dosage use may cause crystalluria.

Precautions:

1.Used with acids can separate crystals out,so do not diluted with 5% glucose liquid.

2.Long term use or high dosage use,should combination use sodium bicarbonate,and let the affected animal to drink more water.

3.If appear anaphylaxis or other serious adverse reactions, stop medicine immediately, expectant treatment.

Withdrawal Period:

Cattle,sheep 12 days,pig 20 days; Milk withdral time 48 hours.
